The Centre de Recerca Matemàtica (www.crm.cat) is offering a 4 year PhD grant as part of the “National Programme for the Promotion of Talent and its Employability in R+D+i” (FPI fellowships). The project forms part of the Spanish Ministry financed project Mitigating environmental contamination via mathematics, led by Prof. Tim Myers and Dr Francesc Font.
The project revolves around the modelling of contaminant capture by adsorption. The core team involves researchers in CRM, U. Politècnica de Catalunya and U. Girona. International collaborators are based in Oxford, Leeds and Vancouver.
The applicant will be part of a multidisciplinary team, involved in developing models, analytical and numerical solutions as well as working with experimental collaborators to verify results. They will work directly with Prof. Myers, Dr Font and Dr Cabrera. As well as carrying out research they should be willing to present their work at national and international conferences, visit international collaborators and be involved in group activities, such as the supervision of undergraduate and masters projects and outreach. A passion for the environment is definitely an asset for this project!
All applications must be made through the CRM website: Pre-doctoral fellowship (PREP 2023): Mitigating environmental contamination via mathematics before Oct. 15th.
