Postdoctoral position: Creating a state-of-the-art epidemic indoors intervention simulator

Applications are invited for the position of a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the School of Mathematics at Cardiff University, to work on computational modelling and a state-of-the-art epidemic indoors intervention simulator.

The successful candidate will work with Dr Thomas Woolley and Dr Katerina Kaouri, in collaboration with Prof Wassim Jabi (Cardiff Architecture) and Prof Ian Griffiths (Oxford Maths), to enhance the impact of research conducted with policymakers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The project will be undertaken in coordination with the Welsh Government and will inform policymaking. The simulator will cater for several indoor settings and will be coupled to a flexible architectural framework (topologic.app). Candidates with expertise in computational modelling of multiphysics problems and excellent programming skills are encouraged to apply. Candidates should have, or be close to completion of, a PhD in Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or related disciplines. The position is full-time (35 hours a week), fixed-term for 10 months, starting as soon as possible. Part-time applications will be considered but the post must end by 30th April 2024.
