The SIG tries to represent ECMI’s competences on the development and application of mathematics models and methods in life sciences and medicine. This is a multidisciplinary field where issues may involve very different spatial and temporal scales, for example: molecular structure and function, cell organization, ecology and ecosystems, neurobiology and behavior, immune system, pathogens and host defenses, populations dynamics, organism function and disease. Furthermore, it is necessary to integrate the different approaches with the different biomedical data and images obtained through recent technological developments. In this SIG we will focus, at least initially, on some phenomena for which there are already active researchers in ECMI with good experience.
