Kaiserslautern. International Conference on Highly Flexible Slender Structures 2025

We are excited to have the opportunity to report on the mathematics in Kaiserslautern here on this blog for a period of two weeks as an »ECMI Node«. This year, we also have many interesting projects that we would like to share with you, the ECMI community. We are starting with the announcement of an important event: The International Conference on Highly Flexible Slender Structures (HFSS) 2025.

Out institute is organizing the second Conference on Highly Flexible Slender Structures between 22nd and 26th of September 2025 at the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Mathematics ITWM in Kaiserslautern, Germany.

This event will focus on systems of flexible structures that are both subjected to high deformations and characterized by a slender geometry. In particular, the focus will be on nonlinear beam and shell models.

The aim of the conference is to address researchers from different disciplines dealing with mechanical modeling, mathematical formulations and numerical methods for highly flexible, slender structures. The range of topics includes contact mechanics, non-smooth dynamics, computational geometry, geometric numerical integration as well as the development of open-source simulation software for such structures and industrial applications of corresponding simulation software.

The highlight of the conference will be a series of keynote speeches by internationally renowned scientists as well as ten thematically organized mini-symposia with subject-specific presentations.

Join us at the Event! Call for Abstracts

Prospective authors are invited to submit a two-page extended abstract by 15th of March 2025. We are looking forward to meeting you all in Kaiserslautern.
