Wuppertal. Launch of the ERASMUS Mundus Joint Masters Program MATHS-DISC

We are thrilled to announce the launch of the MATHS-DISC consortium’s Erasmus Mundus Joint Master (EMJM) in Mathematical Modelling, Simulation, and Data Science, set to begin in September/October 2025! This groundbreaking program is the result of a successful collaboration between five prestigious European universities, spanning from Portugal to Ukraine:

– Università di Verona
– Bergische Universität Wuppertal
– Igor Sikorsky Polytechnic Institute Kiev
– Universidade de Lisboa
– Université Grenoble Alpes

We are also proud to include NTNU Trondheim as a partner university.

Industry Collaboration

Our consortium includes over 20 leading industry and research partners such as Siemens, Intel, Bosch, Bayer, d-fine, uRoboptics, Vodafone Ukraine, IDOM, ENGYS, Otto Bock, DLR, Terranova, NeuronsLab, Computer Solutions SA, and Royal IHC, among others, representing diverse sectors across Europe.

Program Overview

With a total budget of approximately 5 million Euros, this novel EMJM is supported by the European Consortium for Mathematics in Industry (ECMI) and the European Network of Mathematics for Industry and Innovation (EU-MATHS-IN). Our goal is to train the PhD students of tomorrow and create interdisciplinary networks that share best practices at the European level, overcoming geographical and scientific fragmentation.

About MATHS-DISC

Our acronym MATHS-DISC symbolizes a circular disc, with each sector representing a distinct area of applied mathematics:
– Modeling
– Stochastics
– Numerical Simulation
– Optimization

These traditional areas are integrated with cutting-edge topics such as Machine Learning, Digital Twins, and Quantum Computing, making our EMJM program truly unique.

Application Phases

– Main Application Phase: January to February, for students applying for EMJM scholarships, NDICI targeted regions scholarships, or Consortium-funded scholarships.
– Second Application Phase: May to June, for self-funded students.

Join us in this transformative educational journey that combines tradition with innovation. We look forward to welcoming the future leaders in mathematical sciences!
