On 26.05.-28.05.2024, the second meeting of the PL-MATHS-IN, the Polish chapter of EU-MATHS-IN was held in Będlewo, Poland. The goal of the meeting was to share knowledge and experience in applied mathematics, focusing on the applications of mathematics to solve complex real-world problems in various fields of industry.
The meeting successfully brought academics and industry professionals together, facilitating a productive exchange of ideas and best practices. The discussions and presentations underscored the critical role of mathematics in driving industrial innovation and highlighted the potential for future collaborations.
The final day of the meeting featured presentations from industry representatives. Dr Jakub Tomczyk from Sun Cable, an Australian company specialized in renewable energy networks, and dr Philippe De Brouwer from HSBC, the largest Europe-based bank, underscored the tangible benefits of applying mathematical concepts to solve industrial challenges.
Wrocław University of Science and Technology was represented by the following speakers: Krzysztof Burnecki, Jakub Malinowski, Janusz Szwabiński, Marek Teuerle, Katarzyna Weron, Rafał Weron and Agnieszka Wyłomańska.
