Statement of the ECMI Executive Board

The executive board of ECMI is appalled by the violence unleashed by Russian forces against Ukraine, and urgently calls for an end to the bloodshed. We stand united in condemnation of a senseless war waged by the current Russian government. It demonstrates a brutal and primitive mindset of those who should know better, coming at a time when mankind needs to address major shared problems, like climate change and protection from pandemics. We express our full solidarity with our Ukrainian colleagues. We are determined to continue to pursue our contacts and close cooperation with our Ukrainian partners at all levels. We are aware that many of our Russian colleagues condemn the attack on Ukraine. The present situation nevertheless causes ECMI to stop all collaboration with Russian institutions until further notice.
