University of Tartu Master’s Programme in Computer Science is Waiting for Applications
Application for University of Tartu (UT) international students is now open until March 15. One of the university’s more prominent master’s programmes is Computer Science, as UT is ranked one of top universities in Central and Eastern Europe in the field of Computer Science (THE World University Rankings by Subject 2018).
Computer Science MSc programme combines the study of Theoretical Informatics, Distributed Systems (focusing on High Performance Computing (HPC), Cloud and Mobile Cloud Computing) and Data Science. Every specialisation is based on courses in which knowledge of mathematics is essential: dealing with discrete mathematics problems with security analysis in cryptology studies, vast problem-solving in HPC, as well as statistical methods used in Big Data analysis.
Furthermore, the programme engages with artificial intelligence, neural networks, computational neuroscience, blockchain technology, general cryptography, as well as quantum cryptography and quantum computing.
Mathematics students can apply for the programme if they have completed courses in computer science on a bachelor’s level, including programming, algorithms and data structures. Nearly all admitted students get a tuition-waiver scholarship and a number of students receive extra monthly stipends.
Admitted first year students get a chance to apply for an Industrial Master’s Programme and study half of the curriculum at a partner company, performing practical tasks relevant to the company while fulfilling the academic curriculum. The programme is covered by additional monthly scholarships.
UT Computer Science graduates are extremely competitive in the job market and the Institute of Computer Science (ICS) has close relationship with many successful IT companies, including the ones founded by Computer Science alumni, such as TransferWise and ZeroTurnaround.
