Kaiserslautern. UpQuantVal – A Strong Center for Quantum Research in the Upper Rhine Region

Quantum Science has developed rapidly in recent years, and technologies such as Quantum Sensors and Quantum Computing have the potential to fundamentally change our digital lives. To establish a strong center for Quantum Science in Europe, the »INTERREG« project »UpQuantVal« was launched this year. This pioneering project brings together institutions from Germany, France and Switzerland, including players from the fields of research, business and politics.

New Quantum Computing Activities in Kaiserslautern

In cooperation with IBM Germany, the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft is establishing a national competence network in the research field of quantum computing. With the participation of currently eleven Fraunhofer Institutes, specialist expertise is being pooled in regional competence centers. On our Institute the Center for Quantum HPC has been established. The focus of the Competence Center Quantum Computing Rhineland-Palatinate is on quantum High Performance Computing.
