PhD position at NTNU
NTNU – knowledge for a better world
The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) creates knowledge for a better world and solutions that can change everyday life.
Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering
Department of Mathematical Sciences
PhD fellowship within Geometric Numerical Integration for Particle Dynamics in Turbulent Flows
About the research project
A new PhD fellowship in computational science is available at the Department of Mathematical Sciences at NTNU. The successful candidate will join the activities of the project Geometric Numerical Integration for Particle Dynamics in Turbulent Flows. This is an interdisciplinary project, where experts in fluid dynamics and in geometric numerical integration collaborate to improve models of non-spherical particle dynamics in turbulent flows. The problems to be considered are highly complex and of a multi-scale nature, in fact, suspension flows are almost always chaotic, i.e. turbulent. The impact of this research ranges from a great variety of engineering processes such as pulverised combustion and sprays to study of particulate pollution and related health hazards as well as the dynamical behaviour of micro-organisms in the sea.
We offer a stimulating and friendly working environment with many fellow PhD students in a beautiful country.
