ECMI Joins the Initiative for Science in Europe (ISE)

The European Consortium for Mathematics in Industry (ECMI) is pleased to announce its formal membership in Initiative for Science in Europe (ISE). With this membership, ECMI aims to leverage the power of mathematics to drive innovation and address complex challenges across various industrial, economical and societal environments in Europe.
ECMI is a consortium of academic institutions and industrial companies that acts co-operatively with the following aims:

  • To promote and support the use of mathematical modelling, simulation, and optimization in any activity of social or economic importance.
  • To educate Industrial Mathematicians to meet the growing demand for such experts.
  • To operate on a European scale.

Joining ISE represents an exciting opportunity to engage with other European societies and scientific research organisations, contributing to European science policies that will promote funding for scientific research.

Prof. Alessandra Micheletti, President of ECMI, stated, “We believe that mathematics is a cornerstone of innovation. Joining ISE will help us amplify our message and showcase the transformative potential of applied mathematics in industry, as well as the benefits of intersectoral cooperation”

Prof. Martin Andler, ISE President, added, “Mathematics plays a major role in all the natural sciences; its place is increasing the humanities and social sciences, and has a major impact on industrial innovation. Indeed, several national studies have shown that the mathematical sciences contribute in a very significant way to the GDP of those countries. With the addition of ECMI to its network, ISE will be able to better promote the connection between basic science and industry.”.
